“D†is for discipline. Ahh yes….my background in education and social science have trained me well in the art of discipline. Many of my clients love it when I take on the role of “teacher†with them in sessions and I promise you, dear reader, that I take it very seriously when I am in this mode! Also, so many of you come to me with little or no self control whatsoever and it is even more necessary to instill a disciplined regimen with these clients. I believe in ritualisitc tasks to practice discipline and I think its important to check-in and get an idea as to how these discpilinarian tasks are impacting a caller. I will periodically ask you to describe your thought and emotional processes to me during various tasks. I should make it clear however; I am not so much of an inflexible or mean-spirited disciplinarian with the majority of my clients. I also believe in exerting a caring and patient form of domination and discpline except when I sense someone is truly attempting to maniuplate me or my role. Quite often in such cases, I will simply use one of the most powerful tools for reinforcing discipline: ignoring.
